It's been a long time! I didn't realize it had been so long since I have posted here! We are continuing our study of the life of Elisha Sunday mornings at 11. You are invited to meet with us!

Also: we have disconnected our telephone due to lack of usage - but we are still open! You can find more information about us at www.opendoorcommunity.net

Sunday, July 13 - "Bloom Where You're Planted" - have you ever wish God had given you different abilities and skills? Have you ever wanted to trade places with someone? It would be hard to find two people as different as Elijah and Obadiah - yet God had a plan for each of them - and God has a plan for you, too! We'll be studying this at 11:00 a.m.

Sunday, July 20 - One of the most well-known parts of Elijah's life is the battle vs. the prophets of Baal on Mt. Carmel. We'll be taking a closer look at this struggle at 11:00 a.m. I welcome you to Open Door!

The longer I spend studying the life of Elijah, the more I'm staggered by James 5:17 - "Elijah was a (human being) JUST LIKE US!" Using that as a theme, here's what we'll be studying the next few weeks:

* God has to work IN us before He can work THROUGH us. Do you ever feel that you've been "put on a shelf"? We'll be looking at how to react to those times during our June 22 11:00 a.m. Gathering.

* Our faith grows as we follow God - even when we don't understand where He's leading us - or WHY He's leading us there!  We learn that "it's not about us" - it's about OTHERS.  We'll be digging deeper into this June 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Open Door.

* When we obey God, but tragedy strikes - what then?  That's the topic for July 6.

I hope to see you Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Open Door Community Church!

He prayed that it wouldn't rain - and it didn't for 3 1/2 years! He prayed again and it rained again. He was instrumental in a child coming back from the dead. He prayed and fire came down from heaven. And James 5:17 says, "Elijah was a man JUST LIKE US." That's a staggering statement! Sunday, June 1, we begin a several week study of his life. We make no promises that you'll be able to pray fire down from heaven, but Elijah teaches us some important lessons for life. See you at 11 a.m. Sunday at Open Door!

IT'S MOTHERS' DAY! We invite you to meet with us at 11:00 a.m. as we talk about "How to Pass the Faith Along."

Sunday, April 27 - "The Weekend of Life". If you've been alive very long, you've probably experienced at least one "Easter weekend". By that I mean: Friday - things are going wrong. Saturday - you don't know what just happened, and you can't figure out what's going to happen next. Sunday - miracle! Typically, the "weekend of life" lasts weeks - sometimes much longer than that. What can we do to "hang in there" til the miracle comes? I hope you'll meet us Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at Open Door as we look at this together! Sunday, May 4 - "Where is Jesus now, and what is He doing?" Have you ever wondered what happened to Jesus following His resurrection? We'll talk about it at 11:00 a.m. on May 4th at Open Door - I hope to see you then!

Palm Sunday! At Open Door, we spend Palm Sunday focusing on God's love for us, demonstrated by the Cross. If you ever question God's love for you, look at the Cross. We will close our 11:00 a.m. Worship Gathering by taking The Lord's Supper together. April 20 is Easter Sunday! Celebrate the Resurrection with us at 11:00 a.m. We will be studying Luke 24 - why not read it and see if you can find the "openings" of Easter?

Friday, March 7, 2014

You've probably seen the bumper sticker "Practice random acts of kindness." What exactly does it mean to be kind? We'll be looking at this topic Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at Open Door. And don't forget - "spring forward" before you go to bed Saturday night - turn your clocks AHEAD one hour so you won't miss anything Sunday morning!!

Our study of "I am the Vine, you are the branches, I want you to bear much fruit", has led to our current study on "The Fruit of the Spirit". I invite you to study with us as we look at these 9 characteristics God wants to "grow" in our lives.

Saturday, January 11, 2014

I know it's a few days late, but "Happy New Year!" Beginning Sunday, Jan. 12, we will be spending a few weeks in John 15, studying "I am the Vine". The illustration of the vineyard is rich in spiritual lessons for us. The overall theme is "How to Be Spiritually Productive." I hope you'll join us this month - I believe this study will be helpful in understanding how God works in our lives. See you Sunday at 11:00 A.M. at Open Door!
